NAVIGATION SKILLS 201

DESCRIPTION:

This will cover more complex concepts in Topographical Navigation as applicable to Adventure Racing such as:

• Orienteering: What is it and what is its history.
• Navigational devices: Altimeter, GPS.
• I'm lost now what do I do?
• Determining best route:
• Night Time Navigation.
• The Compass: Field bearing, and position triangulation.
• Map Orientation: determining bearing
• There will be a small orienteering project at the end lasting approx. 1 hour to test the skills learned.

DURATION: 3 hours

DATES: June 19th and August 14th 2005, 7:00am-10:00am

LOCATION: Kailua Beach Park, Kailua HI

COST: $25.00 per person

REQUIRED EQUIP: Compass and Nav Equipment. Some equipment will be provided and available for purchase at the BOCA/ARH head quarters or Climb Aloha.
