ROPES SKILLS 201 Certification #2

DESCRIPTION: Certifications will be given upon completion of the clinic. This will cover the basics of ropes as applicable to Adventure Racing this will certify you for both the 24 Hour Challenge and the Sprint Adventure Race.:

• Safety: Don't be afraid, what goes up must come down.
• Essential Equipment
• Knots
• Hardware
• Fundamentals
• Rappelling, and Ascending
• Introduction to climbing and bouldering.
• Tyrolean Traverse
• Handling the Repel under stress, fatigue and weather.

DURATION: 3 to 5 hours

DATES: June 19th and August 14th 2005, 10am-1pm

LOCATION: Kailua Beach Park, Kailua HI

COST: $50.00 per person, $25.00 for certification only

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Climbing/Moutaineering Equipment: UIAA/CE approved climbing helmet, Harness, 2 daisy chains or slings (30cm min.), gloves as required for rappelling, 3 locking carabineers, descent device (ATC, Stop, Brake bar, or similar), 1 Prusik knot or Klemheist Knot (min. 6mm cord, length as req. for back up), one pair mechanical ascenders. Gear can be purchased from BOCA/ARH Head quarters or Climb Aloha.
