DESCRIPTION: This will cover basic concepts in Kayaking
and the ocean skills needed in Adventure and get you certified for the
24 Hour Challenge and the Sprint Adventure Race. If you have already been
certified you do not need to attend.
- Personal Safety
- Advanced Ocean Navigation: Charts, Compasses, Measuring direction
and distance, course, using your senses.
- Tides and currents.
- How to handle your kayak in waves.
- Open ocean kayaking technique.
- Nutrition on the kayak.
- Basic first aid.
A small
kayaking course will be set up.
DURATION: 3 hours
DATES: June 12th and August 14th 2005 4pm-7pm
LOCATION: Kailua Beach Park, Kailua HI
COST: $25.00 per person
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: If you do not have kayaks, paddles
and PFD's must be rented by each person attending the clinic. Kayaks can
be rented from Two Good Kayaks (see links page) and will be delivered
at no additional charge. Persons attending the clinic with their own equipment
are welcome to do so. Please inform us on the application if you are bringing
your own equipment. |
