Date: August 20th 2005, Kualoa Ranch, HI

Description : This race will be a 4-6 hour sprint distance event, offering challenging competition in a 2, 3 and 4 person team format. This race features fantastic views of Oahu's windward side; it is a race against time and team and puts mother nature against the skills and fortitude of racers.

Disciplines : The sprint race will consist of Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Trail Running, A Mystery Team Builder, An Environmental Project, Orienteering, and Ropes. Ropes will consist of Rapelling, Traversing and Ascending.

Categories: Men's, Woman's, Mixed, Family, and Military..

Awards and Prizes: Top 3 in each Category. Each team member will receive medals. All team members will be presented with a team racing tank, and a finishers t-shirt. There will also be an awards ceremony with live music, camping and lots of give away prizes.

Registration: If registering on race day be sure to bring cash or check no credit cards will be accepted at that time.

Packet Pickup: Plan accordingly this process takes any where from 45minutes to 1.5hours. Registration begins is from 2pm-6pm on Friday August 19th at the Boca Shop 330 Cooke St, Honolulu, HI. You can also register Race morning at Kualoa Ranch from 6am to 8am on August 20th.

Camping will be available. The 8K off road challenge will take place on August 21st 2005. All guests and observers are welcome. Please have them check in at the registration desk and pay for camping is they are camping. We need to keep track of everyone who is on the Kualoa Ranch property.

USARA Membership is mandatory for this event. Please bring a copy of your current USARA membership card, presentable at registration. Those that do not have USARA membership will be required to purchase a single event membership @ $8.00.

Skill Certifications : Copies of Skills Certificates will be available at packet pick up. You will receive a red wrist band if you have completed both the ropes and water certifications. If you have only completed the water certification you will receive a blue wrist band.

If you would like further ropes instruction or would like to learn more contact Climb Aloha, check their link out on our links page. The ARH staff reserves the right to not certify an individual if they feel the necessary skills have not been displayed.

If you need to rent Kayaks contact Two Good Kayaks at 262-5656. They will have your kayak Dropped off and set up at transition on the morning of August 20th. Kayaks will be picked up at 5pm on August 20th. No one is allowed in or too the Kayak transition area unless dropping off Kayaks. Your Kayak will be numbered with your team number and ready for you during the race. No equipment is allowed to be staged in the Kayak transition. Only Kayaks, PFD's and Paddles will be allowed. The same rules apply to the outrigger conoes.

Teams will be able stage their bike gear at the Bike transition. This includes any food and or water the team needs as well as biking gear.

There are no aid stations so plan accordingly. Aid stations will be available at the Kayak Transition and the Bike Transition.

All team members are required to carry their biking helmets with them at all times, as well as all the climbing gear and survival gear.
