The winning team will complete the course in approximately 4-6 hours; a course time limit of time will be in force. The concept is simple: competitors leave the starting point and navigate through numerous mandatory control points to the finish line as quickly as they can. To officially finish the race all team members must cross the finish line together. Often different routes may be taken; teams choose their own course as long as each control point is passed in order.

At least one member of each team is required to complete the ropes course. If a team has members who do not wish to complete the ropes course and or who have not been ropes certified they will be given a mystery project for each competitor not completing the ropes section.

At Check in team members will receive either a red or a blue wrist band. Only people with red wrist bands will be allowed to do the ropes course. A blue wrist band signifies only water certification. All tem members must have at least a blue wrist band.
