Raul "Boca" Torres
de Sa, Race Director: Owns and operates BOCA Hawaii, the state's most successful
multi-sport training and racing agency. Race director, coach, personal
trainer, adventure racer, 10 time IRONMAN Hawaii finisher, Tinman age
group record holder and head coach for the Hawaii Pacific University
cross country running team.
John Henderson, Executive
Director: One of the top multi-sport athletes in Hawaii, John
has raced in 65+ events over the last 5 seasons, including IRONMAN,
XTERRA, and mountain bike races. Former Coast Guard Dive Officer & Hyperbaric
Chamber Supervisor. Personal Trainer, SCUBA Instructor, BOCA cycling
coach, Pharmaceutical Specialty Sales Representative.
Ed Bugarin, Navigation
Expert: Is an experienced
adventure racer and race-organizer. Founder of the Dusk2Dawn Adventure
Race & the STREND Fitness Challenge. Former instructor at the Presidio
Adventure Racing Academy. He has competed in expeditionary races such
as the Southern Traverse (New Zealand-1996), Beast of the East (Virginia-1999),
Raid Gauloises (Tibet/Nepal-2000) and Eco-Challenge (Borneo-2000). He
has also participated in shorter adventure races (less than 48 hours).
Skilled at orienteering, fixed-ropes, SCUBA diving, board & kite
sailing, free-fall parachuting. Retired US Army Special Operations Operator.
He currently works as a security contractor and provides training in
dignitary protection and counter-terrorist operations. Featured in the
2002 TV series "Combat Missions". His latest adventure was from April
2003-March 2004 where he worked as a Senior Security Advisor for a Department
of Defense contract in Iraq.
Mike ‘Bugman' Richardson, Ropes
Trainer:
Is an avid rock climber and mountain biker for 14 years, started the
Climb Aloha retail store in 1999 to provide island residents and visitors
with an expert source of rock climbing, mountaineering, and outdoor equipment
and advice. Bugman is certified by the American Mountain Guides Association
and holds current Wilderness First Aid and CPR certification.
John 'Rose' Rose, Ropes Trainer:
A serviceman in the U.S. Marine Corps and is the Administration Chief
for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24. A part-time student with Hawaii
Pacific University, Majoring in Business Management. Rose has 3 years
experience as an armed security guard for the U.S. Department of State.
He is also a ropes and rock climbing instructor for Climb Aloha. Rose
holds current Wilderness First Aid, CPR certification, Fire Prevention
certifications, and pepper spray and PR-24 Monadock baton certifications.
He is M-16 and 9mm qualified.
John O’Malley: is
a U.S. Army Signal Officer currently assigned to USPACOM Headquarters
at Camp Smith Hawaii. Over the past 17 years, he has served in numerous
assignments throughout Europe, Africa, the Pacific and the Continental
United States. An avid adventurer, competitive triathlete and adventure
racer, John recently competed in the 2004 Nissan XTERRA World Championships.
As Team Hawaii’s Military Liaison, John enthusiastically volunteers
his time to educate, train and prepare U.S. service members for multi-sport
events.
Ray Brust, Mountain
Bike Expert: 10 time
Hawaii State Champion Cyclist, 7 time Hawaii Best All Around Rider, 1988
Olympic Trials for Road Racing, USCF Western Sectional Champion, over
125 race wins, professional cyclist mechanic.
Jimmy Davis, Business
Plan Development:
Is one of the State's top multi-sport athletes and among the leaders
in the amateur field at the XTERRA World Championship Triathlon. Formerly
a US Army Logistics Officer, he is now completing his MBA at the University
of Hawaii.
Eduardo Torres de
Sa: Manages the daily
operations of Boca Hawaii HQ and is a professional bike mechanic. He
has 15 years of cycling & multi-sport experience and has excelled
in numerous International adventure races, including the 1997 & 1999
Brazilian EMA Expedicao Mata Altlantica. Hawaii & Brazil IRONMAN
finisher.

Olympic Triathlon Training Head Coach. Certified spinning Instructor. APEX Certified
Personal Trainer, 1999 Jamba Juice MountainMan Tri 3rd Overall. 1999 Xterra
Austin Texas 2nd Overall Amateur. 1999 Xterra Hood River 1st (35-39). 2000 Gallatin
Tennessee 4th Overall Amateur. 2000 Xterra Half Moon Bay 3rd (35-39), 2001 Pflueger
